“Your wife lost a lot of weight.”

One afternoon in August my husband arrived at the gym after me (he had to drop his clothes at the dry cleaners first), the woman at the front desk said to him, “I’m always seeing your wife working out. She has lost a lot of weight.”

I’ve been going to the gym 4 to 6 days a week for the past four months and just when I start to get discouraged with my progress, I get reminded that I may be slow but I at least am going to the right direction.

What a pleasant reminder.

  1. Congrats! You look amazing! 🙂 (Although it’s always weird to judge a transformation just be before and after photos, since they don’t show the hard work it took to get there, but in any case these look great)

    1. Thank you!! Yeah, that’s true. The beginning part is overwhelming, for sure. 🙂 I replaced bread with oatmeal and I drink Americano instead of latte (and now it became a habit). That helped a lot. I still eat my pizza and drink my red wine, though. That’s where I draw the line. 😀

      1. I realized sometime last winter that the full-fat milk in all the lattes was definitely making me put on more weight, but it’s easier to drink americanos during the summer anyways 🙂

Totally agree on the wine! I sadly can’t eat most of the pizza in Shanghai, but I had an entire 12-inch pizza during my last trip home haha

  2. Good job staying mindful and not giving up. It’s so hard to remember that a rich or sugary dish is going to taste great in the moment and make you feel tired and miserable later.

Well, maybe it is only hard for me. You seem to be doing brilliantly.

    1. It’s tough in the beginning but then it gets easier. I mean, I still eat pizza and drink my red wine. I’m mindful….not crazy! Kidding, aside, thank you! 😀

  3. This is very inspiring. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I really am trying to cut out sugars and do some sort of exercise everyday. I know how great it feels when other people start to notice the changes. It is also a great feeling to be able to run for an hour. Good for you!

    1. Thank you! I have also been struggling with my weight my whole life, for sure. I never thought in a million years I would run on a daily basis – let alone run for an hour. I am slowly picking up speed, so it’s exciting. 🙂 More exciting news? I kicked the can – I no longer drink Coke! :D!!
